Ringen am Schwert - an introduction

Description: We work through the basics of entering into grappling distance safely and what to do when there. We cover all the basic techniques (more or less everything that is in Ringeck and then some).

No prerequisite knowledge required, but it's more fun if your partner knows basic breakfalling :-) The class works best on grass or wrestling mats, but can be held in an ordinary salle as well (it's just slightly less fun!)

No prerequisite knowledge required, but it's more fun if your partner knows basic breakfalling :-) The class works best on grass or wrestling mats, but can be held in an ordinary salle as well (it's just slightly less fun!)

All classes are about two hours but can easily be extended to three. Classes are held in English or Swedish, though I will understand (most likely) and answer questions in German as well.

Lignitzer's wrestling

Description: The class will focus on the techniques described in Andre Lignitzer's wrestling treatise. We shall look into how his techniques interact with each other, forming an effective system of unarmed combat. Special attention shall be placed on how to use them against a resisting opponent with exercises that help bridge the gap between drilling and sparring. The amount of material covered will depend on the time available. Participants should have basic knowledge of breakfalls so that they can fall safely.

Requirements: The organizer should provide mats suitable for wrestling. Participants are encouraged to wear a grappling jacket (judo gi, gouren jacket...) since some techniques are easier to perform with clothing grips. Other optional equipment includes mouthguard, groin protection and wrestling shoes.
