Thanks for posting these Roger, they are really interesting clips. A bit dramatised for the crowds etc, but what comes across is how handy the strategy of having the shield strapped across the back, maintaining a side profiled posture and using the spear in both hands, is. Seems like a big round shield like that covers most of the back nicely, and if one stands in profile with the spear, that shield across the back pretty much closes off most of the right handed sword and shield man's strongest and most natural cuts from his right side (still have to guard the head and legs of course). Nice.

These fellas are really good, I think. Sometimes a bit dramatised, I agree, but they have excellent control and fight pretty hard, even breaking shields. Also, they move quite well and look pretty serious. This isn't their most exciting clip and I recommend you to look at what they do on YT. Not everything is great, but a lot is interesting.

And yes, it is really interesting to see the effect of carrying the shield on your back. It works pretty much as armour and lets you work very dynamically with the spear.
