Here are a few longsword images taken from "external" sources.

Apparently, it's bad to fight with a lute on your head! ;)

But with some kind of wolf-dragon-thingy, it works.

I'm thinking about that Hitler-jugend-excercise picture. As far as my knowledge in German can tell me, it talks about historical fencing. If I'm right, that's an interesting thing to know, that Hitlerjugends learned about historical combat. I wonder if the purpose was cultural or if they were actually supposed to use it during WWII.

Here's an interesting image of a statue in the Louvre that I am unsure of. Judging from the sword it might be a landsknecht, but could perhaps also be an executioner. The pose has been compared to the Ochs, of course, but if it is indeed an executioner, then that would not be the case. If the opposite is true, then it is the first time I see a proper Liechtenauer stance by a landsknecht.

Yep, it is new to me too. It probably has nothing to do with an execution, but the stance seems a little awkward and "high", as if he is intending to twist and cut low and I have seen similar stances in scenes of beheadings.

I have been wondering about landsknechts for some time, and how they fenced. They were at their peak alongside of Meyer and Mair, so I would have thought I would see some similarities, but I have quite a few images and few actually show any fighting. So this statue is very interesting in that respect.

Interestingly enough, when going through images of executions, I have found other images with something that looks very much like zornhut and other similar stances. Could be just coincidence though, since body mechanics of course is general.

Btw, none of the images I have show any masked executioners. I don't know if it is a myth, a later invention or that it simply wasn't shown for artistic reasons.

Noteworthy that the jester spends time with several ladies while the fencers only get to bash each other. Maybe he was also a bard, seems like the musicians always get lots of ladies.
