Very nice pictures there Roger.
I wonder if you could train your horse so well that it could perform all those manuevers.
This is also one of the first times I've seen firearms in a manuscript.
Though, I wonder how much value it has. Seems like he shows a lot of disjunct situations that can occur, but nothing about how to get there or get out of there.

Actually, the manuscript contains quite a lot of text material and I don't really know anything about what is in there. I just liked these images. As far as I can tell, the text talks about warfare and not really sword techniques or such. It is written in German with some terms in latin, btw.

What IS interesting is that it appears to very clearly focus on training for actual battle, rather than judicial dueling.

A great set of images, Roger! I really need to make time to get over here more - this forum is growing wonderfully!

BTW, this image:

download/file.php?id=114

From the Beauchamp Hours is particularly interesting, as Beauchamp is fighting Padolfo Malatesta, and the judge presiding is Galeazzo Gonzaga da Mantua - one one Fiore's students!

Cheers,

Greg

Thanks Greg!
It certainly is interesting to learn more about the Beauchamps image! :)

Regarding Sternis question about horse training above, I came to think about these two clips:

I have also gathered the images in an open folder online: http://www.hroarr.com/temp/wallhausen/

Alright, I take back what I said. You CAN make your horse perform those actions.
Damn, these Spanish Bullfighters have some impressive skills.

It is a depiction of a judicial duel between a man accused of thievery and his accusor; Walter Blowberme vs Hamo Stare from 1249.
